At the reorganization meeting of the School Committee, Ron Mercier read a statement basically saying that he is not resigning and its time to to the work of the people and move forward.
He stayed non-controversial, and actually seconded the motion that reorganized the committee with Sheehan remaining as chair, Elie as vice-chair and McNamara third.

Today, we have reports from the Lowell Sun breaking news, as well as news reports on all the local news stations saying that School Committee member Ron Mercier was seen, on video tape even, allegedly taking gasoline from the City of Lowell for his personal use.

The first item during new business of the Dracut School Committee meeting was an amendment to the contract for Superintendent Elaine Espindle.
This amendment was to provide indemnification for her from anyone who tries to sue her for performing her legal duties.
