Today we hear that much of the original data used to prove “climate change,” “global warming,” hoo haa has been lost.

The Times Online reports today:

SCIENTISTS at the University of East Anglia (UEA) have admitted throwing away much of the raw temperature data on which their predictions of global warming are based.

It means that other academics are not able to check basic calculations said to show a long-term rise in temperature over the past 150 years.

The UEA’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) was forced to reveal the loss following requests for the data under Freedom of Information legislation.

In a statement that followed on their website, the CRU claimed “We do not hold the original raw data but only the value-added (quality controlled and homogenised) data.”

What kind of scientist throws away the raw data to something that he considers so important that he is calling for coutries to spend Trillions of dollars?

Chris Booker of the Telegraph had a scathing article today describing the people involved in this gaming of the figures, and the list of scientific crimes involved:

In each case it is clear that the same trick has been played – to turn an essentially flat temperature chart into a graph which shows temperatures steadily rising. And in each case this manipulation was carried out under the influence of the CRU.

What is tragically evident from the Harry Read Me file is the picture it gives of the CRU scientists hopelessly at sea with the complex computer programmes they had devised to contort their data in the approved direction, more than once expressing their own desperation at how difficult it was to get the desired results.

The third shocking revelation of these documents is the ruthless way in which these academics have been determined to silence any expert questioning of the findings they have arrived at by such dubious methods – not just by refusing to disclose their basic data but by discrediting and freezing out any scientific journal which dares to publish their critics’ work. It seems they are prepared to stop at nothing to stifle scientific debate in this way, not least by ensuring that no dissenting research should find its way into the pages of IPCC reports.

Ever since I read McIntire’s report years ago that showed the hockey still projections of Al Gore’s presentation were just wrong, and other reports that showed the world temperature tied almost directly to the level of energy from the sun.. I considered the whole thing another left-winged attempt to control more of the economy.

Environmentalists have always tried to elevate their importance.. and this one looked like one that would work for them. Now it all looks like a hoax.

But of course, you can only read the facts if you look in the European and other foreign press. You’re not going to find this on CNN.

Before they start their “Cap and Trade” energy/global warming tax program, our own government better stop everything in its tracks and prove to us that there is really something there.

The “scientific consensus” has been lost. The data has been gamed. The only people out to make a bundle from this fiasco are the environmentalists, the scientific researchers who live off government grants, and the UN in creating a set of new taxes meant to punish the US and give more of its resources to other countries (while skimming off the top for themselves).

Emails released by the Competitive Enterprise Institute show that a recent study not only suppressed, but other groups looking to comment on it were instructed not to as well:

Clean Air Act.1

A report from C-Net summarizes the situation that clearly shows that the only purpose of the EPA here seem to be to support the Obama and Pelosi policy of massive new taxes to try to manipulate the energy industry while costing the “main street” additional billions of dollars.

Within the EPA this all has to do with giving the EPA control over carbon emissions across the country. For the rest of us, it has to do with more excessive taxation during a recession.

Alan Carlin, the primary author of the 98-page EPA report, said in a telephone interview on Friday that his boss, McGartland, was being pressured himself. “It was his view that he either lost his job or he got me working on something else,” Carlin said. “That was obviously coming from higher levels.”

E-mail messages released this week show that Carlin was ordered not to “have any direct communication” with anyone outside his small group at EPA on the topic of climate change, and was informed that his report would not be shared with the agency group working on the topic.

…

Carlin has an undergraduate degree in physics from CalTech and a PhD in economics from MIT. His Web sitelists papers about the environment and public policy dating back to 1964, spanning topics from pollution control to environmentally-responsible energy pricing.

After reviewing the scientific literature that the EPA is relying on, Carlin said, he concluded that it was at least three years out of date and did not reflect the latest research. “My personal view is that there is not currently any reason to regulate (carbon dioxide),” he said. “There may be in the future. But global temperatures are roughly where they were in the mid-20th century. They’re not going up, and if anything they’re going down.”
