Most of the school committee attended the meeting of the Board of Selectmen this evening expecting to participate in a discussion regarding the lease with MSEC for use of the Parker School in the future.
Because the town attorney had not been given a copy of the lease to review, as well as the financial information necessary to evaluate it, and the fact that the topic was not on the agenda, the board voted to move the discussion to their next meeting.
This could affect the lease with MSEC, as there is work that needs to be done on the building prior to their use of it (ADA requirements) and the building permit for upgrades has not been approved.
It was ironic, in that the topic of “old business” was last on the agenda, forcing the School Committee members to sit through the entire meeting before the discussion was even considered.
Last night’s meeting of the school committee was the first since they changed their “community input” agenda item to the end of their meeting. No community member participated at that meeting, while at tonight’s meeting a couple members spoke (at the beginning of the meeting).
