Quinn Bill coverage Explained

Town Manager Dennis Piendak filled us in tonight during his report to the board.
He summarized the end of the last Board of Selectmen’s meeting where an agreement with the Police Union was finalized.
The agreement covered 2 fiscal years.
There is a 0% pay increase over that time, but the town will cover the education incentive payments and other benefits previously covered by the Quinn bill during that time.
Also, the union gave up a number of sick days per year, as well as 50% of sick leave buy-back from current employees, and no sick leave buyback for future employees.
Looks like we are trading off significant future costs to provide current benefits, which seems reasonable.
