Town Meeting and Election next week

Federal Election

McCain. Its a done deal.

The people running Obama’s election admit that they used Patrick as a test to see if their method would work.

In the end we got a governor who put us 1.4 Billion in debt, with the people so upset about it that they are pushing to eliminate the income tax itself.

Cuts all over the place.. services are crumbling.. and Deval is spending his time out campaigning for Obama. Wonder what job he is looking for..

Obama has zero real experience, and looks like another guy who is good at running for office, but has no idea what to do when he gets in there other than spend endlessly and tax the heck out of the rest of us to pay for it.

Democrat Congress, Democrat President…. not for me. I’m independent, but definitely don’t want to give that much power to one side.

State Ballot Questions

Question 1: Eliminate the State Income tax

We told them to cut it back to 5%. They ignored us.

They invented “triggers” and every other reason not to do it.

Wilkerson is just another example of the problems with state government.

The constant examples of departments spending down their annual cash, the pensions, the endless new jobs in departments that just seem impossible to trace every year..the endless programs that just waste money and put more people on government jobs (pensions).. I’m just tired of it all

I know that the cut will be big, and cause massive impacts throughout the state.. but that’s the point. Throw a wrench into the gears and shake things up.

I want a huge shakeup.. a huge redefinition of what is government and what should it be doing.

Why does the state run golf courses, parks, cultural programs, even farms?

This article, by a left-wing liberal, is a great description of some of what I believe as well.

You can read all the Howie Carr articles as well.. they’ll threaten the downfall of civilization. All I can say is look 1 mile north to New Hampshire and ask “How do they do it?”

So YES, I will be voting for question one.

Question 2: Decriminalize small amounts of Pot

I hate pot. Its been the bain of my existence for years. Never tried it, never will.

I work with at-risk and troubled kids. Every one.. every one.. has problems with this stuff.

And over time, I’ve realized that the problem goes beyond the kid.

For many its an issue of health care, in that they are usually using it as a method of self medication for depression.

We’ve been fighting a “war on drugs” for 30 years. Its failed. Tons of this stuff are actually grown on federal lands, by illegal aliens who find it easier to sneak in here and grow it than to grow it at home and ship it. If our government cant even keep track of that, how are they going to claim that they can control whats happening on the streets.

The main problem here is prohibition. It doesn’t work. It creates the underground organized crime. It creates the demand that would not be there otherwise.

Ultimately, we need to completely find a way to decriminalize this stuff.

I’ve heard all the arguments on the other side. They are all made by people who get massive amounts of funding to fight the “war on drugs.” I definately recommend a read of Sheriff Masters “Drug War Addiction” on this topic.

This law is not perfect, and creates a number of other issues.. but at least that will force the state government to look at the issue and make some decisions. Again, its another wrench in the works that I hope will get us to a better place.

Part of the real problem is CORI reform. This is something Deval Patrick ran on. I guess once he got into office he lost all interest in it. If people get stuck with charges on their record that last forever, then they can never get a job and are forced to continue doing illegal activities just to survive. People in our state can never get a second chance.. thus we need to start removing behaviors from list of crimes.

The government doesn’t want to fix that problem, so I believe this will help with at least a bunch of it. Or maybe it will get them off their rumps and back on the target of trying to fix reall problems.

So YES, question 2 also gets my vote.

Question 3: Eliminate Dog Race Industry

Do I care about mistreated dogs. To some degree. But not to the degree where I would eliminate an entire industry that has never.. never had a charge of mistreating an animal.

This is another attempt by the animal rights nuts to take another bit of power. They already succeeded in destroying hundreds of thousands of dollars of personal property and homes because of their ridiculous banning of trapping and killing beavers.

Before we know it, they’ll be looking to control pets, farm animals and vermin in the streets.

How about the government put their real effort and emphasis on taking care of the children in their care before putting the slightest effort or resources into this issue.

Let the private sector certify and inspect their own programs. Its worked until now. If people don’t want to go to those races, the idustry will die of its own accord (I do not believe in subsidizing them at all with public money).

For now, there’s bigger issues to deal with, so I vote NO on this question 3.
