Good Bye to Good Times

Good Time EmporiumThe Good Time Emporium in Somerville has had its last weekend.

Known to everyone as “Good Times,” this was one of the best family establishments I knew of where you could take young kids for rides, games and amusements and as they grew up they would continue to go there for the pool, laser tag, indoor batting cages and socializing.

Later, as adults, the place had a good night life as well as tons of huge wall-size televisions for watching key sporting events.

Now, the area is being redeveloped. The centerpiece will be an IKEA (the one in Avon is doing very well), with a new set of businesses surrounding it. The city believes that this redevelopment will bring in about 20,000 jobs.

Then again, this was one of the few good clean establishments where you could send the kids to have fun in a safe environment.

Well, thats the end of Good Times. We’ll have to find a new place for the next generation.
