Shaw Farm Celebrates 100 Years of Operation in Dracut

The Shaw family is flying in from across the country to join in the celebration.

Come down to the farm this Saturday and Sunday, June 28th and 29th, to help transition one of the Greater Lowell area’s oldest Dairy Farms into its second century.

On Saturday morning, 980 WCAP’s Saturday Morning Live program will broadcast live from the farm from 6:00 to 11:00 am, with host Warren Shaw interviewing many long time customers and special guests.

A Saturday morning highlight also includes a special invite-only breakfast for 50 of the farm’s longest running customers.

At 9:00 am, a parachute landing by Dennis Ducharme starts the public program.. followed by a one hour speaker program.

On both Saturday and Sunday, starting at noon, there are a great number of family activities planned.

Take a tour of the barn.. tours start every hour on the hour beginning at noontime.

Hay rides, a powerpoint presentation of the history of the farm, and games for the kids from “make you own butter” to finding treasure in the haystacks (at 4:00 on Sunday).

Over at the ice cream stand, the antique tractor display is back. There is face painting for the kids, caricatures, and maybe you want to learn how to milk a “cow.”

There will be a display by local farmers, as well as news about the future expansion plans for Shaw Farm.

And, don’t miss out on making your own sundae for only $1.98!

All these family events go from noon til 6:00 pm on Saturday, and noon until 4:00pm on Sunday.

So stop in early and visit us during the live broadcast, or come by during the afternoon to take a tour of the barn and have some fun with the kids.
