Happy 4th … »

Ed Gertz sends us this picture to remind us all to enjoy the 4th of July this week.

I want to remind everyone that Dracut is celebrating the Holiday Thursday evening with a concert by Brandy at the school complex starting at 7:00 pm and fireworks at 9:00.

Good Bye to Good Times »

The Good Time Emporium in Somerville has had its last weekend.
Known to everyone as “Good Times,” this was one of the best family establishments I knew of where you could take young kids for rides, games and amusements and as they grew up they would continue to go there for the pool, laser tag, indoor [...]

An escaped convict, who walked away from a prisoner transport into a waiting car, was captured yesterday here in Dracut.

The Right to Keep and Bear Arms.. shall NOT be infringed »

Everyone is waiting for a ruling today from the Supreme Court (the real one, not this silly Massachusetts SJC) about a case that finally reached them regarding a handgun ban in Washington DC.
Hopefully, this case will settle the age-old question regarding the first clause of the second amendment: “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the [...]

Hampton Sand Scuptures thanks to Brox Industries »

As they were made of Brox Industries sand, as reported in the Lowell Sun last week, I took the opportunity to visit Hampton Beach today to get some pictures from the annual Sand Scupture Competition.

Not really a big Dracut story, but it is another example of the kind of events held here in New England [...]

An Interview with Clark Smidt and Sam Poulton at WCAP »

I had seen an earlier blog thread at Left in Lowell regarding WCAP and its first six months and took the opportunity to talk to the owners late this week to ask them how things have gone so far.
Clark Smidt (CS): We’ve put together an awful lot in a hurry, but there’s still some loose [...]

New Questions.. what are the answers? »

From the Associated Press, we learn:
BOSTON (AP) _ Backers of ballot questions that would end Massachusetts’ income tax, ban greyhound racing and ease marijuana laws say they have enough signatures to make the November ballot.
Supporters of a ballot question to phase out commercial dog racing in Massachusetts said they collected 45,000 signatures, about four times [...]
