Bob Gantz of Dracut Pop Warner responds
By Shawn on May 31, 2008 in Recreation
I got an email from Bob this morning, responding to our request for his response to the Lowell Sun article indicating that Brian Martin had been cleared of charges.
I am currently in London on business and will not be back to the states until June 9th.
Evidence was presented to Eastern Mass and Dracut Pop Warner and we were informed that based on what was presented, there were no grounds for the charges as filed, so the charges were dropped..As far as the inquiry against myself and the DPW Treasurer goes on the dual signatures on checks issue, I will be meeting with Eastern Mass on this issue to review it.
We currently use on-line banking services which use electronic signatures and provides a more secure method of payment processing. Our by-laws are being updated to reflect this change to use technology for the better of the program.
I will continue to stick to my and the board of directors main goal and that is to get things back on track and focus on the kids and the program and not get bogged down with the recent events because when all said and done, it is the kids who are paying the price.
We start our season in 2 months and there is still so much to be done to make it a successful one for the over 300 boys and girls in the program.
All I can ask is that the participants, parents and the community put the trust back in the Dracut Pop Warner board of directors that we will continue to do the right thing.
Sincerely,
Bob Gantz
President, Dracut Pop Warner
On 980 WCAP’s Saturday Morning Live this morning, Brian Martin repeated that he is trying to “get this all behind us.”
As to the charges Martin filed against Pop Warner president Gantz and Treasurer Abreu Martin said “I believe we will be able to put the matter behind us and all will be resolved.”
In terms of Pop Warner, Martin did note that the fields and lights issue at Veteran’s Park will probably resurface this year.
I’ve included much of the Martin interview in the attached audio podcast.
