from the Sheehan Campaign:
DRACUT, MA, 28 April 2008 – During its meeting of the 28th the Dracut School Committee, in proposing to have legal counsel review Superintendent Espindle’s contract, only proved the point that they cannot act proactively but only as politics demand.
“This action should prove to every taxpayer in Dracut that it is time for a change on the Dracut school committee.†Matthew Sheehan said, “My opponent and his co-committee members, in proposing this action, did nothing about the contract until pressured by me. He and the rest of the committee were in such a hurry to push this superintendent out the door, that they were willing to saddle the taxpayers with this outrageous deal until I made it an issue.â€
“If the school committee had had an appropriate, professional relationship with the Superintendent, then we could have attempted this negotiation years ago,†Sheehan continued, “instead, at a time when parents are paying fees for sports, and our residents are faced with severe economic stress, for this committee to be so reckless with spending is shameful.â€
“Is it only political pressure that brings them to action? Its time for a change.â€
ABOUT SHEEHAN – Sheehan is a candidate for Dracut School Committee. Strongly supported by parents of the community, Sheehan looks to be a voice for them, the taxpayer and for change.
