O’Loughlin Calls on Meehan to pitch in on Election »

This was a short, but funny little event that happened during last week’s Board of Selectmen’s Meeting.
As noted here in the weekly Sun Column, Selectman Jim O’Loughlin challenged outgoing Congressmen Marty Meehan to pitch in on the cost of the special election that we will have to participate in to replace him.
I wish I could [...]

At last week’s Board of Selectman’s meeting, a letter was read from the new Town Moderator, Gary McCarthy, asking the Selectmen to form a new temporary committee to work on “revitalizing” the Town Meeting in Dracut.

As decided by the Dracut Recreation Commission earlier this month, the Dracut Skate Park is due to reopen for skaters in early June.

Sun Editorial joins in Call for Hiring Negotiators »

Yesterday’s Lowell Sun editorial brought up a concept that I have been promoting for years now.
Many local union leaders routinely use attorneys and skilled negotiators from Boston to help them get the most lucrative deals they can for their members. That’s a union leader’s job, and it makes sense that they would fight for all [...]

Meet the MA-05 Democratic Candidates »

I got this notice today via the Contact Form.
Although its titled “Meet the 5th District Congressional Candidates”, it is sponsored by the Chelmsford Democractic Committee and the Greater Lowell Area Democrats.. so I have to wonder whether Republican Candidate Jim Ogonowski will be there as well.
It is a good opportunity for those who are interested [...]

There is a big yellow dumpster in the parking lot of Wignall Animal Hospital, and it is for recycling paper.
The company gives back donations for paper they get in the dumpster. The more paper that they receive the more money they donate.
Wignall donates whatever money they get from [...]

Was this the “Straw” that drove Espindle away? »

Dennis’ article on last Monday’s School Committee meeting seems to be pointing at the cause of what eventually became the start of Elaine Espindle’s exit from the Superintendent’s position in Dracut.
Warren called it the “straw that broke the camel’s back” in that this incident seemed to finally say to her “take advantage of the opportunity [...]

June 07 Town Meeting Warrant »

The Warrant for the upcoming June Town Meeting is at the Town Clerks page on the town website, available for download here.
I’m going to highlight a couple of items, and leave the rest for you to look over.
The first one that caught my attention was article 9, a modification of the towns application of the [...]

Librarian Susan Schwarts Resigns »

Its come to my attention that Susan Schwarz, the head librarian at the Moses Greeley Public Library submitted her resignation to the Trustees at last night’s regular trustee’s meeting
A few hours ago, she did the same with Town Manager Dennis Piendak.
I am told that she “decided to pursue other interests, enjoy her time a [...]
